CLPT Admission Criteria Consultation

In accordance with the Department for Education’s School Admissions Code (2014), Heath Park, Moseley Park and Coppice Performing Art schools are currently consulting with parents, the Local Authority and other interested parties regarding the CLPT secondary school admission criteria, for entry to Heath Park, Moseley Park and Coppice Performing Arts School in September 2021 (that is children born between 1st September 2009 and August 31st 2010).

The consultation will run for a minimum of 6 weeks commencing on Monday 4 November 2019 and closing on Monday 16 December 2019.

CLPT Directors and the academy Governors have approved the following admission criteria for entry in September 2021:

Entry into Year 7 September 2021

Before the application of the oversubscription criteria, children with a Statement of Special Educational Need or Education, Health Care Plan, which names one of the three secondary schools will be admitted. The Published Admission Number in 2021 will be 200 for Heath Park School, 186 for Moseley Park School and 180 for Coppice Performing Arts School.

Where applications for admission exceed the number of places available, the following criteria will be applied, in the order set out below:

  1. Children and Young People in Care (as defined by Section 22 of the Children Act 1989) and previous Children and Young people in care, will be given priority or provided with accommodation by that authority.
  2. Medical/Social whether there are specific medical or social circumstances that can be met only by the child’s attendance at the preferred school.
  3. Whether siblings attend the school and will still be attending the school in September 2021.

Definition: a child who resides at the same address as the child for whom a place is being requested and is one of the following:

  1. Pupils from feeder primary schools within the Trust.

The primaries currently in the Trust (September 2019) are D’Eyncourt Primary School and Woden Primary School. In the event of oversubscription from feeder primary schools students living closest to the schools will be given priority.

  1. Proximity of the child’s home to the school, with those living nearest being accorded the higher priority, the distance being measured in a straight line.

Definition of home address: the home address of the child is considered to be the permanent residence of a child in a residential property when the place is offered. The address must be the child’s only or main residence and is either owned by the child’s parent, parents or guardian or leased to or rented by the child’s parent, parents or guardian under lease or written rental agreement of not less than six months duration.

Distance will be measured in a straight line from the centre point of the home address to the centre point of the school, using the Local Authority’s computerised measuring system, with those living closer to the school receiving the higher priority.

If twins or children from multiple births are tied for the final place, they will all be admitted and the School will operate over PAN.
